Hovering over what could be considered as the last piece of untouched topography in downtown Los Angeles, this dance school facilitates an urban coordinator which encourages dynamic movement through distinctive spaces. The project look towards the work of Lawrence Halprin and Lina Bo Bardi, two architects that aim to bridge the gap between the ground and building by exploring the relationship and experience of the users. Two volumes are held up by columns to support a spanning roof structure, which spacial defines the public pass through while also allowing for the central decks and stairs to be suspended above the sloping topography. Performance-based program faces the corner, while live work inhabits the other.
